What a great weekend. Hundreds of sweet moms of every age, lots of talking, giggling, estrogen and great friendship and inspirational talks. Lots of adrenalin and energy invested!
But I have found over the years, what goes up, must come down. Mondays are that sort of day. Weekends are off schedule, activities, sweets, church, friends, food–and then it is “getting back to the grind” Mondays.
I think Mondays are days for grace–be kind to yourself. Put beauty into your day. Turn on some music. Kiss a few people and touch them. Dance to music as you wash the dishes.
Get a cup of coffee with an extra shot. Eat at least one square of dark sea salt chocolate almond. Forgive yourself today. If you forgive yourself, you won’t be so grumpy and harsh and we all know that harshness creates tension–it doesn’t create order.
“Mom, when you feel happy and sing and dance around the house, we all feel like we are on top of the world,” said Joel.
Be happy, give your burdens to God. Everyone will be the better for your day. And so I am planning for a grace-filled day, because I know there are lots of demanding days ahead and I am pacing myself–with my heart aimed at joy.

This was SO SO Beautiful Sally! Thank you. I’d love to review either your Ministry of Motherhood book or Mission of Motherhood and do a giveaway on Ordinary Inspirations. Interested?
Love,

PS: I met you in the food line @ Relevant. I so enjoyed that weekend!
coffee with extra whip. that is my kinda monday. we even bought our own coffee hand whip so we can stay in the comfort our home and not pay insane for a “special” coffee. =0)
Oh, what a wonderful quote from your son! We’ve all heard it said that “when momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy”, but I tend to remind myself of that quote when I’m stuck in a cranky rut… yet, it’s not really enough to just not be cranky, is it? Calm is good, neutral is ok, but it’s a far cry short of joyous… Happy singing and dancing around the house is so much better than just remembering not to be a crank!
I have such a sweet imagine in my mind now, of the singing and the dancing
Excuse me, I need to get up and do a twirl or two!
Oh, I so needed this message today! Thanks for blessing me, as always.
That lovely photo inspired me to head to the fridge and make my own latte! Thanks for the good excuse!
I was there this weekend!!! Last night the whole world felt upside down because we weren’t ready for MONDAY. So this morning I invited friends over for homemade cinnamon rolls and a tea party! It was a MUCH better way to start the week. Granted my eldest wants me to get school done with her now, so I better go…
Thank you Sally! I needed to hear that today! After the conference everything was going so smoothly and wonderfully…..meaning I was really floating on cloud 9. Well, of course Monday came and with it a lot of challenges (one being my husband is gone all week on missions), so it was so great to hear this message today. (I think we’ll have brownie’s when the boys wake up to celebrate today!)
Yes, I know what you mean. I call it the day after conference blues. Our pastor had a message yesterday about being a special target for temptation when you are tired, down or after a big event. And so I know I will be real susceptible to criticism (and I always get some), or to my children who are tired from being busy and in a different schedule all weekend, etc. So I ease back into life, lower my expectations and live in His grace and love as much as possible. Grace to live this very demanding life is possible when I rest in Him. Grace to all of you sweet ones.
AMEN!
Okay, I needed this reminder! Yes it is true—happy weekends & rushing around etc..–and back to the grind Mondays. A great way to put it. Last Monday, I was overwhelmed and stressed and the tension I had created disharmony & disorder. Today I gave us more grace in getting started on Mondays.. Thank you for the reminder.
Yep … same as all the other ladies. wonderful women and time at the conference and home to lots of things to do, but so nice to remember that my laundry and dishes could be honoring to God. The highlight of my weekend was holy, holy, holy sung by 300 women. Absolutely lovely and something I won’t soon forget.
