Mentoring Monday Faithfully Teaching our Children the Stewardship of Life

Way # 12 We take care of what we have using it responsibly.

Memory Verse

“He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.” Luke 16:10

As a small child, my mother brought me with her into her garden when she planted a rose garden, cultivated irises and daffodils, and made our yards beautiful. Though it is very hard to grow plants and flowers at 7300 feet altitude, and on the rock of our land, which is basically a mountain, I have attempted to grow many different plants. I love flowers and so I will keep trying until I find the perfect garden.

Each year I would take my children with me and have them do the work by my side. Now, Joy, my youngest, is still inclined to plant her own garden each year because she also gained an appetite for beauty, by me training her to be a steward of our home and garden. So, even returning from college, the first thing she did was to buy herbs, two tomato plants and a few cutting flowers. The training and breathing into her these appetites have formed a pattern in her heart for being a steward of beauty.

I hope this video will encourage you today:

I’ve missed visiting here! :) Thank you for this post!!! It was especially encouraging as my 4 yo LOVES to help me and what a good reminder you gave of the little things we can do WITH them that guide and train them! :) Just wanted you to know that I finished The Mom Walk over the weekend and was so blessed!!! My husband and I have been planning a trip to PEI for a few years. One of these days, we are going to go for our anniversary! You can imagine how fun it was and thrilled I found all your little stories and memories from PEI. My mom, sisters and I, LIVED on Anne of Green Gables and the like…to this day, we quote the movies/books all the time! :) My first daughter I named Anne also! :) (dear hubby nixed Gilbert and Marilla so far ;) ) Anyway, just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed yet another one of your books! :)

I have to admit, I got a little choked-up watching your video! It’s such an indescribable blessing to have a godly woman like you speaking into my life, and the lives of countless others. When you do a video, it’s kind of like having you on Skype! Though I can’t pummel you with questions, it is enough to bring guidance and encouragement! So, thank you so much for being a breath of fresh air for me tonight.
    God bless.

I just love your videos Sally, thank you for doing this one today! I ordered the 24 Ways book a few weeks ago, and am reading through it before we start it with our kids. I’m excited to use this great resource in our family.

I LOVE when you post videos. I have 2 very little ones and work a couple of small jobs from home, so our days are very full. When it’s evening I love being refreshed by your encouraging words but am ready to fall asleep when I sit still. I really enjoy being able to listen to your videos while I’m doing dishes or laundry in the late night hours once my home is still. Thank you for taking the time to post them. I watch them and share them with my many young mom friends. Many of them are non-believers but are encouraged by the positive approach to parenting and are introduced to the Lord in the process. I got to bring one to your conference this spring and was able to follow up by giving her a Bible shortly after. Your ministry reaches many mothers and countless children! Thanks for all that you do.

Right here is the right web site for anyone who wishes to find out
about this topic. You understand so much its almost hard to argue with you
(not that I personally will need to…HaHa). You certainly put
a fresh spin on a topic that’s been written about for ages. Great stuff, just great!
