This from nightly walk with the kids
People—not things
Loving, redeeming, forgiving, extending grace…not works, accomplishment, status, fulfilling expectations, influence, criticism, self-rightesousness
Being intentional…not just frantically busy
Seeking Him, pondering Him, listening to Him…..not the approval of man and seeking to be popular
Seeking the Kingdom and eternity…. not the kingdom or voices of the world
Being humble and meek…not powerful and influential
waiting for Him…not living in the flesh and striving
Living a life of worship…not living a life of self-fulfillment
Being still and knowing He is God…not living a noisy, empty life
These, my treasures, and another view from our nightly walk–irreplaceable.

A great reminder to start my week. Thank you.
I love you and your family. So happy for you for this moment!

This is so timely as I see many around me rushing back to school, getting ready, dreading the long nights of homework and endless activities. I hear so many throw out the word “intentional” as they talk about their ministry, but so few actually put it to action in their daily lives. And the most overlooked thing, I believe, is that if we are living intentionally it will result in a calendar with less activities on it, not more.
Great list of what’s important!
What would you say is the key to fostering that kind sibling love and joy of being together? I sometimes feel that I am raising 4 “only” children. They are 14, 12, 6 and 2.
Love you Sally…thanks for your daily encouragement!
Thank you Sally for posting this reminder of the true realities that really matter. Blessings to your family<3 from Cali.
We made a BIG decision today. Switching from Abeka DVD’s to My Father’s World. I am so nervous about the switch, but after reading Educating the WholeHearted Child, the Lord has really changed my thinking about Why we are homeschooling.
So, the new materials have been ordered and we are moving ahead in faith!
Yay! Great decision. Literature shapes great minds!
I hope you enjoy My Father’s World as much as we do. I love the conversations and how deep they go due to some of the things we read. I never knew a seven year old could have such deep thoughts. Also the relationship that seems to be building with my sons seems to be enhanced by the style of teaching in My Father’s World.
Happy you are all together…and your thoughts so closely mirror ours this past few weeks when we had all at home again.
Love love love love this list…so affirming!!!
