I can’t wait to tell you the whole story about this movie! I will be writing more about it soon. The short part of the story is that I have been praying for 2 years that God would lead Nathan, who is in Hollywood, to a place where he could work with Christians in the media and entertainment industry.
Well, I am here to tell you that He answers prayers! By an amazing story of God’s direction, Nathan is now working with a wonderful group of people, (including a great new friend of mine, Syd Forest Taylor, a mom of young children, like you), whose main intent is to get great films out that promote our family values and give us inspiring stories to show to our children.
Dolphin Tale is such a story! This movie even has 2 homeschool kids who play the main role! (The casting agents went to a local support group in California and found them!)
It is a family movie that will inspire, instruct, and bring you to tears because of the great story line.
This weekend, you will have the opportunity to go to a movie screening, so that you can see it for yourself, in order to promote it to your friends, your group, and your blogs.
The bottom line is that the marketing group behind this movie wants to show Warner Brothers and other companies that the those of us with Christian and strong family values are a big enough market to support other great movies with traditional, conservative family values. I am hoping you will be a part of this great opportunity with me!
I will be writing more next week, but right now, you must take advantage of a timely offer. If you are a coordinator of a mom’s group, a blogger, a leader of a support group or a homeschooling leader, you can attend a special screening in your city to see this great movie for free, with the understanding that if you like it, you can encourage those in your arena to attend on opening day, September 23.
Here are two fantastic opportunities to share with you! This weekend, Warner Bros. is sponsoring free advanced screenings of Dolphin Tale for Mom’s Groups, Bloggers, Support Group leaders and Homeschool leaders across the nation. Nathan has already seen it and loved it! You can check out the trailer for yourself on my side bar or at http://dolphintalemovie.warnerbros.com/ The screenings will take place this Sunday in the following markets:
| Atlanta | Cleveland | Detroit | Los Angeles | Philadelphia | Sacramento | Washington DC |
| Baltimore | Colorado Springs | Grand Rapids, MI | Los Angeles/OC | Phoenix | San Diego | Salt Lake City |
| Boston | Dallas | Houston | Miami | Pittsburgh | San Francisco | |
| Chicago | Denver | Kansas City | Minneapolis | Portland | St. Louis |
If you’re interested, don’t hesitate to take advantage of this, and please RSVP to hmcrsvp@gmail.com for the time and theater details.
They need all RSVPs by this Thursday, August 18. So hurry–first come first serve!
I am also super excited about the second opportunity! Warner Bros. is giving a separate set of screenings just for homeschoolers. Warner Brothers is curious to see if homeschooling really is a big enough market to target, and that is why they also included some homeschooling kids in this movie. Consequently, they are offering special screenings for homeschoolers and their groups. Homeschoolers will have the opportunity to see the film before anyone else! This is fantastic news to share with your readers and other homeschooling families you may know. Make sure they register at http://www.homeschoolmovieclub.com/join_us for a chance to attend the screening.
Help me to help my wonderful son Nathan, by helping us get the word out. Please put it on your facebook, twitter and any place else you can imagine. I will write more soon about this wonderful movie and what it represents for us to have an impact on Hollywood as those who have the value of affirming and validating our family values. Thanks so much for your help–and enjoy the movie!
***Update*** Thank you so much for the overwhelming response to this film and for your support! Dolphin Tales Media has now filled their capacity for all screenings and the link listed will no longer be effective.

This is SO AWESOME! Thank you!
I am super excited about this group, we’ve been looking to incorporate outside events into our homeschooling experience. This is a fantastic idea, thanks!
This is just amazing! So exciting to see. The trailer made me cry. I’ve looked for tickets here in Manassas, Va where I am, but can’t get them till the 23rd of Sept. WE’ll be first in line for sure. I shared this on my FB page! And of course, have you blog linked on my blog. Love you Sally, Kellie
It is so wonderful to see movies being produced with strong family values. I can’t wait until this movie comes out in Australia.
This movie sounds really awesome!! My family would LOVE it!!!
I’m so excited to see a film that is focused on supporting family values and virtuous themes for our children. I plan to FB link your post and I’d love to attend a screening so that I might be able to blog about the movie and share my impressions with my moms group. Thanks for letting us know what we might do to support this effort!
What a great opportunity! I look forward to supporting this movie and getting the word out. Glad Nathan’s a part of this, and we benefit from it as well
I can’t wait to see this movie, and I am putting September 23rd on the calendar as a family movie day!! My children will be beyond excited to go see a movie on a Friday afternoon!!
I’ve watched the trailer and can’t wait to see this movie! I’m getting the word out to as many families as I can about this inspiring story.
can’t wait to see this move with everyone I know!!
Looks so good! Can’t wait to go see it on the opening day! I hope it has great success! I love seeing Homeschoolers portrayed in a good light. And a good sweet movie that’s inspiring. Can’t wait.
We are always looking for movies that support Biblical values and don’t just feel like I wasted two hours of my life.
This looks like it will be fun for the family!!
Thanks for posting this. My family can’t wait to see this movie!!!
So excited about this film! Posting a link on my blog, too.
Can’t wait to see it!
My daughter is going to love this movie! I sent an RSVP for the Detroit area screening. Hope we get in.
Thanks for sharing this.
I too, like all the others are excited about the movie and I love Morgan Freeman…wish he would run for President!! He has my vote indeed!! You mentioned your prayers for two years…there is nothing like the power of prayer!! Looks like God is with you … Best wishes and much success on the movie!
This movie sounds very interesting… no showings in my area, though (Oahu, Hawaii)… we would definitely be in line!
Can’t wait to see this!
My Daughter has talked about wanting to see this movie ever since we saw the first preview! This looks like a great family oriented movie with a cast that should give a great performance. We are super excited about a movie like this coming out – I wish movies like this were available more often.
Thanks for helping to spread the word! I will also post a link to my Facebook page. There are many homeschooling families in Hawaii who are in the military who should appreciate this film.
We saw the previews of this a few weeks ago & my kids got so excited!! We can hardly wait until September 23!!! I have shared this link on my FB wall & have sent the link to our homeschool group. We are planning on going together as a group.
This is so refreshing and encouraging! There are so few movies out there that are truly family-oriented, so we are excited to see this one. We will definitely spread the word!
Just posted it on the Minneapolis all-city homeschool email loop. Thanks for the heads up!
This looks great! We homeschool, but we’re up in Canada. Any idea if and when it would be showing out here? Tell the producers we want to see it hit British Columbia and all of Canada.
Sally — I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now and always enjoy it. I am excited to see this movie and applaud your son for being involved in such a project. I’ve been writing ‘Christian-or faith based’ themed movies for about ten years – (Love Comes Softly, Loves Enduring Promise, Love’s Long Journey, Love’s Unfolding Dream; Saving Sarah Cain and The Velveteen Rabbit). I’ve personally experienced how hard it can be to get a movie like this made and I look forward to supporting the film by seeing it!
Cindy Kelley
Cindy!
It’s so neat to hear from you. It’s such an encouragement to see someone of faith making such a difference in this crazy entertainment world. I am looking so forward to doing that my self someday. My family grew up on your movies, and still watch them to this day! Haha We love them. Thanks so much for your support!
God bless,
-Nathan
Hi Sally! This indeed is a great movie! I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with these folks, and I have written a FREE science unit study curriculum (downloadable eBook) that they are making available to homeschoolers, too. It is on their site, http://www.homeschoolmovieclub.com.
The curriculum highlights what is seen in the movie and delves deeper into the science behind what they are watching.
I would love to find out more about the screening in San Francisco, but the link you provide is no longer working (says 404 error)–can you fix or explain why it is no longer working? thanks.
Sounds like a great movie, hope to see it soon!
I’m praying this is a new trend, more good movies with good values. We’ve stopped going to the movies simply because “there’s nothing good on.” It’s nice to have a movie that speaks to the good, and not uplifting the depraved.
Hi Sally,
Sounds awesome! Thank you so much for sharing this. I wish it were test marketing in Orlando. I am not sure if you know or not but this story was also made into a book and the book is great. It’s called Winter’s Tail: How One Little Dolphin Learned to Swim Again by Craig Hatkoff, Juliana Hatkoff and Isabella Hatkoff . The authors have written a few other true stories about amazing animal tales as well and they are really good too. Just wanted to pass along the info.
Thanks for sharing and encouraging all that is good and pure and lovely. Can’t wait to see it! Love you, Sally!
Wow, what a wonderfully inspirational family you have! I am happy and proud of your son, too. But, lest we forget, the parents deserve the foundational credit. You have introduced faith into his life and based all the books that you have authored, well, I can only say, WOW! You are truly devoted to Him and his works and how he is using you to touch others’ lives is amazing. In His spirit, I will wish the best the world here on earth can off Nathan and his whole family! My daughter was merely an extra in this movie, but I hope one day, her strong faith and prayer will lead her to meet your son and his family in person! I am definitely going to purchase one or two of your books! So exciting! Ministry of Motherhood, here I come! Thank you! PS> Has Nathan had to opportunity to work with other terrific Christian actors like Kirk Cameron?
Wow… thanks for sharing and praying!
We just finished the movie and had a great MN turnout! Thanks again for making this awesome opportunity known. It truly was a blessing for so many. I appreciate you!
We just saw this in MN and LOVED it! My boys, husband and I all thought it was a delightful film and we will definitely be telling others about it! Thanks for such a wonderful opportunity to preview it!
Thank you so much for alerting us to the free screening of Dolphin Tale. Our family loved the movie and had a wonderful time!
Thank you Sally! What a great movie! We went to the screening this afternoon after church. What a sweet film and a very good family movie! Loved it!
Thanks, Sally, for the heads up! It was such a treat for our whole family to go to a big-screen movie. We all loved it and got a kick out of the homeschooling references. Thanks again for your extra effort in getting the word out. Many blessings to you.
I just saw the preview for this movie on Monday night at the theater (girls night out and my first movie since the spring!). I thought it looked fabulous, and I am excited to read positive things about the movie. We did not see a movie as a family this summer. We are getting more picky about what we pay to see, but certainly I enjoy and do not mind paying for a great family film such as this! I relish the movie theater atmosphere and large screen, but I do not want to put vulgar things in my mind and certainly not my child’s! So much is said and encouraged regarding organic foods, etc. these days, but how many are considering and caring about what we put into our children’s minds – also a part of their fragile bodies?
